Street Ministry

Grief--Loss

"Jane" came to the Mission very upset.  She was crying and shaking and was wondering if she could stay in our chapel for about an hour.  She was trying to get away from drug dealers who had been threatening her as she wanted to quit using the drugs they were selling her.  She said that she came to UGM as it was like a church and she wanted some peace and safety.

I talked with Jane about the Charis Centre and the women’s recovery program that we have.  I urged her to make the steps needed to get into that program asap.  She said that she would try to do so soon.  I pray that she has.

I took the time to pray with Jane and let her stay in the chapel until her friend was able to come to pick her up.  She said that she was tired of the life she was living and how her addiction had ruined her life.  She was wondering if there would ever be any peace or rest for her.  I told her about Jesus and what he said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

May the Lord give Jane that rest along with all those who come to Union Gospel Mission looking for peace in their lives.
