Praise & Prayer

  • Pray for Jamie, found inebriated and literally crawling across Portage Avenue during rush hour at Polo Park.

  • Praise the Lord for our 6 interns who have completed the men’s addiction recovery program at UGM.  Please pray for their continued healing & recovery as they learn essential skills for the future.

  • Pray for Marla, Danielle and Rhonda, all who have heard Jesus speak to them through our drop-in time.

  • Praise God for our men at the front desk who often have to contend with upset and high addicts from the street, yet do so with love and compassion.

  • Pray for protection of our Chaplains. One was recently assaulted as he shared Jesus with a man spewing hatred of God.

Kindness in Action

Kindness in Action

We are so profoundly grateful to the kindness shown by so many.  Saturday, 8 August, within 25 mins we received great bounty from Ness Avenue Baptist Church and their partnership with Winnipeg Harvest. Didi and Carey are the top 3 pics.  We were also blessed with wonderful supplies from Vita Health in Osborne village. Sara and Rhea occupy the other photos.

Then if that was not enough, another person who wanted to remain anonymous also showed up with a splendid delivery of food. Our street guests might be gaining a few pounds over these next several days......This is food we would serve to Jesus and His disciples.  Thank you!

PLEASE remember that every little bit...every gift...every act of kindness matters.  The multiplication factor of our Father is outstandingly magnificent!!

Jesus is in the Fire!

Jesus is in the Fire!

Daniel 3:23-25 NKJV:  "And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.  Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?”  They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”  “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

The Bible tells us that “the devil is like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).  Women in recovery seem to have a special target on their back. Over the past few weeks we have watched a few of our ladies get devastating news on top of devastating news. Things that would break the best of us, let alone someone in recovery trying to learn to navigate life in a new way; Ladies that are babies in Christ and are still growing.

Watching lives be changed through Christ makes the enemy very uncomfortable and his goal is to send them back to the street, turning to drugs.  But what a blessing that comes out of it when we see these ladies continue to grow despite the attacks of the devil.  We have watched them grow in their faith, trusting God more than ever before.  Just like Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego, they know that Jesus is standing in the fire with them and they will come out of the fire not even smelling like smoke!  God has turned their circumstances into an even greater testimony.

What fiery furnace are you facing today? Are you trusting Jesus to stand in the flames with you?

What Would You Say to Him?

What Would You Say to Him?

After finishing a message on the saving grace of Jesus, a little girl put up her hand. “You’re just telling us stuff we already know,” she said. That was an interesting comment, so it had to be pursued and tested.

“Well, then,” the response came. “If you were to die tonight and God asked you why He should let you into Heaven, what would you say to Him?”

Without any hesitation the little girl answered, “I’d tell God I’ve been a good girl.”

The rest of the session was spent trying to explain that no one could behave so well that they make it into heaven. Only through belief in Jesus and what He did for us on the cross can you get into Heaven. The Gospel must be explained in an understandable way over and over. That is our part. The acceptance of the Gospel and all that goes with it, is up to the Holy Spirit. You can count on children hearing about Jesus when they come to Kid’s Club!
